Being on the mailing list of , for the last month I had received noticed of new CD movie soundtrack titles being released and others in imminent danger of going out-of-stock.  One new title was "Crack in the World", and one older title going out-of-stock was "The Golden Child."  Crack in the World, a 1965 sci-fi movie, was frequently rerun on t.v. in the 1970's and the 1980's.  The Golden Child, a 1986 Eddie Murphy-fantasy movie, was a huge hit when it was released.  Both movies brought back fond soundtrack memories - Crack with its very British orchestrations and the Golden Child with its 1980's hip, street-wise style of music.  LalaLand Records had all of its music CD's on sale for 20% off, and it was my chance to get both.
The CD's came in the mail a few days ago, and I was very pleased.  Crack came with extra music from a movie I had never seen - "Phase IV."  The Golden Child came on 3 CD's, comprising the original screen music from Michel Colombier and the alternate, unused soundtrack from John Barry.  Crack and Golden Child both came with informative booklets detailing the history of how the music was produced (especially interesting how Barry's music was thrown out in favor of Colombier's music).  Also on the GC CD's were songs sung by/composed by Ann and Nancy Wilson, Ashford and Simpson, Diane Warren, Martha Davis, Ratt, and Marlon Jackson - a veritable who's-who of 1980's music legends.
Now that I have the movie soundtracks, I just need to get the Blu-ray's of the movies.  Smiley
