I've always been fascinated with renewable energy, ever since my first solar powered calculator in the 1980's.  Today, I like to find cost-effective ways of integrating renewable energy into my life.

     Heh, what you need is a way to solar-power a C64 set-up (more likely, a C64 DTV set-up built into a little case like the Toughbook 64 DTV).

Sounds like a project I might take on down the road.  My next project is to run a laptop computer entirely from solar power.

     Expanding on that a bit, I'd say a Netbook with a solid-state drive would use less energy than a regular laptop and would be better to power entirely from solar power.

I do like the idea of a Solar powered Commodore.  Generating the 9VAC for systems needing that would be the biggest hurdle but not insurmountable.  Use of a solid state "drive" such as uIEC or other such devices and a small lcd display commonly used for those dvd players used in cars would both save on energy requirement and be more portable.
