Apple ][, rev 0, Integer BASIC in ROM. Works perfectly except for an iffy power switch, which is easily gotten around with a System Saver fan. Apple ][+. Has a custom character ROM that includes lowercase: Apple ][+ cards - Language Card, Super Serial Card, Microbuffer II, Disk II: Apple ///, 256K model:

I too had a spartan in the 80's. Unfortunately corrosion on a regulator caused a huge power supply failure that toasted it.

Have you got any pictures of the spartan? I've never seen one. Does it plug into the expansion port of the C64? Then maybe it could be a challenge for Mr Adoreware to emulate it with the Extreme Cartridge II

Have you got any pictures of the spartan? I've never seen one. Jeri Ellsworth has my Spartan right now; I'll pick it up in a few weeks when I see her again. As for photos of my Spartan, Larry Anderson used to have a couple at http://www.portcommodore.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=photos:vcf_06:startbut his site is going through a reorganization, and the photos have not been reinserted. I'll ask Larry to see if he can put them up again soon. Does it plug into the expansion port of the C64? Actually, it is as wide as the C64 and plugs into nearly all the rear ports of the C64. Then maybe it could be a challenge for Mr Adoreware to emulate it with the Extreme Cartridge II Quite a challenge!!! I've got an Apple ///, my old Apple //c (I threw away the bag because my cat pissed on it at some point and I could never get the smell of urine out of it) and a Lisa 2/10. I do not have the Apple ][e which SDF-1 ran on. From what I understand it ended up in the garbage.

That spartan brings back memories. I picked one up at a computer store on queen street toronto not far from batteries included was once located. That store had 100 or so and Active surplus also on Queen had 500 or so after Mimic systems had shut down. I was never able to afford a second monitor or the apple drives for it before mine went bad. It is one thing I would like to get my hands on again but its unlikely these days as I understand a large number of the surplus stock was scavanged for parts.

That is too bad. Does that mean the Spartans were unreliable machines? Robertbe,
The spartans weren't really unreliable its just Active Surplus thought they could make more money selling them as parts which at the time bothered me, it still does. As it turns out I heard 6502dude the one we all know and dislike bought many of those boards to chop of the cart port connector for making 64 reset switches. GRRR
Mine somehow had some corrosion form on one of the regulators which shorted and hammed the spartan and the 64. If that had not happened I could still be using that system to this day probably.

Unfortunately I do not have it. I did sell it cheaply not long after and told the buyer it had power supply problems and was in need of repairs. In hindsight I should have kept it for repair later. Alternatively I could have bought a 2nd one as a spare but the budget of a near broke high school student would not allow for that.
